A gift for my Grandma

Hey all. Is everyone ready for the BIG day on Saturday? I have one gift to exchange and one to buy. I have one that hasn't arrived yet which is slightly frustrating. The kids are so excited I am surprised they have made it this long.

It's Thursday which means NEW RELEASE DAY over at Meljen's Designs. Check out these fabulous images (which can be purchased along with the rest of Meljen's fabulous images, at the the Whimsy Stamps shop).

Aren't those sweet. Today we are doing a little something different over at the Meljen's Designs DT blog. This week we are going to have a No-Challenge contest, which means we are offering you a chance to win some free images - without submitting a card. If you are interested in a chance to win 2 free images from Meljen's Designs, all you need to do is leave a comment HERE sharing your FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MEMORY. At the end of the week, we will draw 3 random winners to win 2 images each!

Also don't forget to grab this week's FREEBIE while you are there, and don't forget about the Dear Santa Letter freebie that you can also find at Whimsy Stamps!  Print it out so that your little ones can color it up and leave it for Santa on Friday night!

For my card this week I chose to use Mailed with Love. I decided to make a note card set for my Grandma for Christmas. I know she likes to send cards and letters to some far away family members so I thought she would enjoy a handmade set. Here is a sample of two of the cards. I chose to keep them simple since she will be mailing them.

A yummy card for you

Hey there, sorry this is a day late. I took yesterday off to volunteer in Wyatt's Kindergarten class for his Christmas party. Man was that fun, Twenty-two 5 year olds running around with a massive sugar high. LOL. They got to frost their own sugar cookies and then make sugar cone Christmas trees. Last they got to open their stockings that they had made and filled earlier in the week. It was a great party.

Well yesterday was NEW RELEASE DAY over at Meljen's Designs. Man they are fantastic. Check out these fabulous images (which can be purchased along with the rest of Meljen's fabulous images, at the the Whimsy Stamps shop).

As always, with the new release comes a new CHALLENGE. Yay. This week's challenge is Sweet as Candy (or cookies). Head on over to the Meljen's Designs DT blog so that you can check out this week's challenge along with all the fabulous DT examples using the new images. FYI, the challenge gives you a chance to win free images. Also don't forget to grab this week's FREEBIE while you are there.

For my card this week I chose to use three of the images from the release, Bundled Little Snowboy, Cozy Little Chickadees, and Gingerbread House. I found this awesome paper in my stash and knew that it would fit the images perfect.

FYI, the challenge gives you a chance to win free images. Also don't forget to grab this week's freebies (yup there are two) while you are there.

My card for this release is made using "Jingle Bell". I knew everyone would be using the fantastic Reindeer so I thought I would change it up and show this little guy some love. I colored the bell with Bic Mark-its and a gold Stardust glitter pen. The cardstock is from the Core'dinations Gemstone line, and the design paper is a mix of scraps and the new DCWV Christmas Stack. I topped it off with some shiny ribbon.

My card for you today is not from this week's release but from last week's. I just love the "Christmas Cocoa" image and I had so much fin finding the right paper and embellies to go along with it. I used some papers from the new DCWV Christmas Stack and I used some flowers and a pearl from my stash. The sentiment is a rub-on from Joanne's dollar bin.

Snow Friends

Hey HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all of you and your families. Chances are you all snacking while cooking and looking forward to some turkey while having football or a holiday movie on TV in the background. However if not and you are blog hopping, well then I have a Meljen's Designs new release card to share with you today.

Check out these fabulous Meljen's Designs images (which can be purchased along with the rest of Meljen's fabulous images, at the the Whimsy Stamps shop).

Well as always, with the new release comes a new CHALLENGE. Yay. This week's challenge is:

                                               BUTTONS & BOWS

For my card this week I chose the super cute "Caroling Snowmen" image. I have a genuine addiction to snowmen and when I saw this I knew I had to use it. I made an easel card because I don't make them often enough and I thought that it would be the best way to oncorporate all the elements I wanted to  use without overdoing the front of the card. I embossed the white cardsock and I used 3 different patterned papers from the 2009 DCWV Christmas Stack, and  I added the blue ribbon and buttons to match.

Challenges:
Spoonfull of Sugar - Anything Goes
Digital Tuesday - Let it Snow
ABC Challenge - I is for Ice & Snow

Candy Cane Wishes

Hey everyone. I hope you are all ready for tomorrow, TURKEY DAY. I know I'm not. LOL. for the first year ever my parents decided that they didn't want to do anything so my husband and the boys are staying home and I am making all the food. Ugg. Oh well enough of my groaning over how to make stuff I don't even  like to eat, I better show you my card for today.

I whipped this card up this morning because I woke up inspired by a dream I had. I had a dream that I was in something like Wonka's Chocolate Factory but instead of chocolate, I was surrounded by fruity candies and hard candies and nougat. Oh it was great. So I got out my Meljen's stash and colored up this awesome Candy Cane Freebie that she had over on PCP. I used co-ordinating papers from last year's DCWV Christmas Stack. I finished it off with some black & hot pink ribbon. Its nothing  fancy but I like it.

For my card this week I chose the super cute "Santa's Jolly Smile" image. Isn't he so cute? Sorry it's not the best picture, I took it with my cell phone. Anyways, I used some new glittery cardstock I got and some never used patterned paper I got last year that I just love. The paper is double sided and so I used them both for this. I added Stickles to his red of his hat and the white fluff, along with the holly leaves and  berries.

Meljen's Special Release

Today there is a fabulous special release at Meljen's Designs in honor of Melissa's father, Keith Smith. Melissa's father passed away one year ago on November 16th. In honor of him, Melissa created a special release of a few images in honor of him and his love for fishing.

I am very glad that I am able to take part in helping honor Melissa's dad. I chose to use "Fisher Moose" for my card today. I wanted to go rustic with the card because I was inspired by my own family fishing tradition. Every year my family goes fishing at Paulina Lake in Oregon and we stay in these great rustic cabins on the lake.

Now please head on over to the Meljen's Designs Blog to see all the details about this special release, along with all the other DT samples using the images. In addition, we are having a GIVE-AWAY with this release!  We are doing this so that we can celebrate the life of Melissa's dad! Please head on over to the blog and share with us a loving memory of one of your favorite relatives or friends. We will enter your name into a drawing for a freebie Moose image!  Also if you are on facebook and want a second chance to win, you can join Meljen's Designs on FaceBook HERE and share with us another memory there!  The winners-announcement will be on Monday!

Crafty Creations - Sponsered by Meljen's Designs

So guess what, Meljen's Designs is sponsoring the Crafty Creations challenge blog blog this week and some of the Meljen's Design Team were invited to join in as Guest Designers!

I am one of those Guest Designers. Woohoo. In addition to myself, one of my best crafty buddies Dee is also a Guest Designer. We were asked to be a part of this fun challenge by our fellow Meljen's DT member Melissa, who is also a DT member at the Crafty Creations challenge blog.

The theme this week  is Fables and Fairy Tales. What a perfect theme for Meljen's Designs to be sponsoring. There are so many fabulous images that go perfectly.

I have chosen Three Pigs for my card. I had some great new paper that has a linen look to it and I knew I wanted to use it with this card. I re-purposed some ribbon that had come on a gift basket. Then I thought  that the card wasnt quite done so I added the eyelets to the corners of the image and the card and threaded brick colored  twine to attach the image to the main body of the card.

I hope you can play along at Crafty Creations this week. There is a chance to win FOUR Meljen's Designs images. Yes I said 4, so what are you waiting for. Go get crafty and enter.

Challenges:
Drunken Stampers - No Copics
Sweet Sunday Sketch - Sketch
Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge - Embellish

For my card this week I chose to  use 2 different images, "Fancy Little Stocking" and "Seasons Greetings" (this week's freebie!). I wanted to keep the card super simple. I used the Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder on some blue cardstock. I used to shimmer white paper and some shimmer blue paper for the matting. I colored the image with Copics and added some Diamond Stickles. I finished it of with some silver cording and jingle bells that came from a Christmas bow that I had saved from last year.

Cat O Lantern

Hey everyone, I am so excited that the weekend is almost here. I am going to be busy making 22 treat bags for Wyatt's Kindergarten Halloween Party next week. I am super excited to make them. Of course I am still trying to decide on what images to use.

Well it's Thursday and that means NEW RELEASE DAY over at Meljen's Designs. Check out these fabulous images (which can be purchased along with the rest of Meljen's fabulous images, at the the Whimsy Stamps shop).

Wow, aren't they great? Well as always, with the new release comes a new CHALLENGE. Yay. This week's challenge is ANYTHING GOES. FYI, the challenge gives you a chance to win free images.

My card to share today is using Cat O Lantern from this week's release. I dug out last year's DCWV Fall Stack and picked out a couple papers I thought would compliment the image. I took some brown ink and sponged the edges of everything, the cardstock, the PP and even the image. I added in some eyelets (which I love but don't use often enough) and a cute pumpkin brad. The ribbon was from a RAK I received a while back so not sure what brand it is but I thought it went well.

Oh Boy

Hey everyone and Happy Tuesday to you all. I want to share with you today and fun card I made using a great Greeting Farm image that a friend sent to me. This is Oliver from the Happy Day set. Isn't he so cute? I love that he is playing with his dinosaurs, he kinda reminds me of my boys.

For my card I used Core'dinations cardstock and some double sided patterned paper I picked up over the  weekend. I used the current sketch from Card Makin Mamas, although I altered it a bit. I used some  random buttons and paper flag/tags from Martha Stewart that have been sitting in a drawer for about 2 yrs now.

Feeling Witchy

Hey everyone it's Thursday and that means another fabulous release and challenge from Meljen's Designs. I think that Melissa has Halloween on the brain. Check out these fabulous images (which can be purchased along with the rest of Meljen's fabulous images, at the Whimsy Stamps shop)

Aren't those fantastic? Well as always, with the new release comes a new CHALLENGE. Yay. This week's challenge is all about TAGS. Make a tag, put a tag on your card, whatever you can think of as long as it has  or is a TAG. Sounds like fun huh? Well personally I have a fear of tags. I definately had to get over that for this challenge. I can never think of a way to fit them in to my creations. I am tag-challenged (LOL). I hope you like what I came up with.

For this card I used the new image "Little Bunny Witch" and the Trick or Trest freebie from a couple week's ago. I had alot of fun with this bunny image. I wanted to go rustic/country with the card and I had this paper in my stash for at least a couple years and I thought it would work perfectly. I oulined everything with the black cardstock to make it pop. The Trick or Treat TAG I attached using a Halloween brad that says "Scary" on it. Then I chalked the edge of the images with purple.

Now please please head on over to the Meljen's Designs DT blog so that you can check out this week's challenge along with all the fabulous DT examples using the new images. FYI, the challenge gives you a chance to win free images.

I was practically jumping up and down with excitement, of course I had to say yes. It has been a hard secret to keep from you all. In addition to myself, there are seven other new members joining me in this journey. Plus there are seven returning members. That means lots of inspiration to be had. In honor of this great announcement we are having a..............

GDT Post for Meljens

Hey there everyone. I know this is late and should have been posted Saturday but I still want to share with you my Guest Designer Spotlight at the Meljen's Designs DT blog.

This is the start of my FINAL week as GDT and I am super sad that it is coming to an end, I love everyone I have gotten to know over there. They are truly some great and talented people.

I have two cards to share with you today, the first one I have also entered into a few challenges.

This card is made using the "Seagull Frame". I used the Core'dinations cardstock and embossed it with Swiss Dots and then sanded it down to reveal the color through the texture. Then I took another piece of the same color and tore it on the edges and then sanded it a little to roughen it up. The chipboard stars I inked and adorned with random blue buttons. I think this card truly has that beachy vibe.

I have entered the seagull card into 4 challenges:
1. Cute Card Thursday http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/ Challenge 127 - Dieing for a Punch! (No die-cuts or punches)
2. Character Cafe http://www.charactercafe.blogspot.com/ Crumbling/Tearing plus 2 or more buttons
3. Christmas Stampin' All Year http://christmasstampin.blogspot.com/ create a non-Christmas card
4. Stampin' for the Weekend http://stampinfortheweekend.blogspot.com/ Anything Goes

This next card is using the "Retro Cherries" Freebie and "Oval Cherry Frame". For this I wanted to keep the papers simple because of the images so I just used plain black and white cardstock which I edged using my border punch. I added the polka dot paper to tie in the colors of the cherries and the frame. I used some rickrack and red bling to finish it off.

Well that's it for today. Hope you enjoyed my spotlight as much as I did. LOL. I will be back on Tuesday for the Meljen's DT Inspiration Post.
Lastly, I have a few reminders for ya. One is that there is a fab freebie on the Meljen's Designs DT blog.
Also you have got a couple more days to enter the current which is HAPPY BIRTHDAY, in honor of Dee's birthday last week.
Don't forget the sale in the Whimsy shop, all stamps are on sale for 25% off until the end of August! That is today and tomorrow people.

Meljen's Challenge #22

Hey everyone, its Thursday and that means that it is time for my GDT post for the Meljen's Designs DT blog, along with a rootin' tootin' new release.

Melissa has "roped" up some awesome new western images for you this time. They are all available now in the Whimsy shop! Oh and don't forget the sale, all stamps are on sale for 25% off until the end of August!

Wow aren't those great? I don't know which is my fave, I love them all so much. Don't forget to grab the fun horseshoe freebie from Monday too.
Now for this week's challenge. In honor of Miss Dee's (DT member and dear friend of mine) birthday TODAY, we are having a HAPPY BIRTHDAY challenge. So let's see those birthday cards. Remember, if you play along you have the chance to win 3 Free digis of your choice. How great is that?
For my card this week I used "Lil' Rodeo Boy". Oh my he was so fun to color and create with. First I went through my scrap and swap paper pile and found these awesome papers that I got from my friend Carisa. They were the perfect style for the little cowboy. I wanted to keep the card simple since I was using so much pattern in the papers so for the embellies I added a bronze brad and two bronze eyelets. To me they work perfect. Then I added the sentiment which is using the Burnstown Dam font. I love that its really wood boards connected to make the letters.

I hope you all enjoyed what I have had to share with you today and please everyone go drop by the Meljen's Designs DT blog to see the amazing cards by the other DT members and to give Dee some birthday love.

I'll be back with you later for more crafty goodness

Meljen's Challenge #21

Hey everyone, its Thursday and that means that it is time for my GDT post for the Meljen's Designs DT blog, along with a fabby new release.

Melissa has "whipped" up some awesome new kitchen related images for you this time. They are all available now in the Whimsy shop! Oh and don't forget the sale, all stamps are on sale for 25% off until the end of August!

Now onto the challenge. This week we have a COLOR challenge for you:
Brown, Teal & Orange

Here is my take on the challenge using the newly released stamps, "Lovely Little Apron", "Little Cooking Utensils" and "Oval Cherry Frame". Yup, I rocked 3 stamps in one project. Yay me. I colored all the images using my Bics. The background stripey paper I used was from a new line called Grandma's Kitchen by We R Memory Keepers. I am IN LOVE with this line. OMG its great. The solid cardstock panels are all embossed with different plates for fun and texture.

I hope you all enjoyed what I have had to share with you today and please everyone go drop by the Meljen's Designs DT blog to see the amazing cards by the other DT members. Everyone blew me away this week.

Guest Designer Spotlight at Meljen's

hey there everyone. It's Saturday and that means that its time for my Guest Designer Spotlight at the Meljen's Designs DT blog.

This is the start of my second week as GDT and I want everyone to know how fantastically amazing it is. I have met some fab new ladies and had fun chatting with some old ones.

I have two cards to share with you today, one is a new card I made while on vacation last week and the second is a card I made a few months ago using a Meljen's freebie.

The first card is using "Three Pigs" which can be found in the Meljen's shop at Whimsy Stamps.

For this card I used some new paper I got at Archivers in Fort Wayne. Never been to an Archivers before. That place is totally overwhelming. I also used some green velvet ribbon that also came from Archivers. I colored the image with American Crafts and Prismacolor markers.

This card is using the "Giraffe's Necktie" freebie which you can find on the blog. For this card I used all scraps (I have TONS of them), from the paper to the ribbon. I used a couple flowers and brads I have in a tin to give it a little something more. Also I used my only border punch to doll up the cardstock accent. I colored the image with Bic Mark-its.

Well that's it for today. Hope you enjoyed my spotlight as much as I did. LOL. I will be back on Tuesday for the Meljen's DT Inspiration Post. Heck I may even sneak in some challenge cards too. Depends on if I get all Wyatt's back to school shopping done.

Meljens Challenge #20

Hey everyone, its Thursday and that means that it is time for my GDT post for the Meljen's Designs DT blog.

This week's challenge is I See Double! which is to use 2 of the SAME image on one card!

Oh my this was a tough one to wrap my head around. After looking at this weeks new releases, which can all be found in the Meljen's shop at Whimsy Stamps, I knew that the "Back To School Badge" was just the right image to use. I had lots of fun making this card because it challenged me. Instead of t he standard red apple I decided to go green and I think it works great. I also popped up the star and the heart to give it added dimension, along with adding some sparkle.

No go over to the Meljen's Designs DT blog to see what Andrea, Callie, Dee, and Sandy have to share with you. You will be amazed by thier talent.

Two of my crafty friends are DT members there, Miss Dee and Miss Callie. Thanks for letting me join you ladies and I can't wait to get to know some of the other DT. Nutshells Challenge #21

Hey everyone. I am here to share with you my FINAL Guest Design Team card for this weeks challenge at nutcrafters-nutshells .

Challenge #21 is a little different, it is ANYTHING BUT A CARD. That means go wild, you can create bags, tags, altered notebooks, bookmarks, basicall if you can make it with paper and its not a card, it counts. You can even use the stamps on a Layout.

Remember that you must use a stamp that is carried in the Nutcrafters store to qualify for the prize!!! So go over to Nutcrafters and see the selection of stamps. And remember you have 2 weeks for this challenge.

Oh my and I forgot to tell you what the prize is. This week's prize a a set from The Greeting Farm. The lucky winner will get the Amazing Duo set.

This week I chose to alter a checkbook cover. I have used an image from the mid-July release. I thought the wishing well was perfect for the checkbook. I used some paper from an Angel Company paper stack that I had lying around, I tried to make it look somewhat like grass and sky. For the flowers I used a flower ribbon that I got in the Target dollar bin. For the sun I layered some yellow flowers together. The sentiment I handwrote.

I want to finish this post by saying thanks so much to the ladies over at Nutcrafters for allowing me to be a part of thier team these last 2 months. I have had lots of fun with you guys.
