My First

HAPPY FRIDAY everyone. I missed yesterday's post and I am so sorry, but that means a NEW CHALLENGE was issued yesterday over at Meljen's Designs. (No new release this week)

This week's challenge is:  BLAST FROM THE PAST
Show us the very first card you ever made using a Meljen's Designs image!

I remember getting the email from my friend, Dee asking if I could be the Guest Designer for August 2010 and of course I had to say YES. The only hitch was that I was in the midst of a cross country road trip vacation with the family. Once we got to the in-laws house in Indiana I made my Mother-in-Law take me to the nearest Archivers (I had never been to one) and I bought all this fun stuff for the card. Although I was limited in most supplies I still had a blast making this and I love the way it turned out.

Now head on over to the Meljen's Designs DT blog so that you can check out this week's challenge along with all the fabulous DT "First" cards. FYI, the challenge gives you a chance to win free images. Also don't forget to grab this week's FREEBIE while you are there.

Free to be ME

HAPPY FRIDAY everyone. I missed yesterday's post and I am so sorry, but that means yesterday was NEW RELEASE DAY over at Meljen's Designs. Check out these fabulous images (which can be purchased along with the rest of Meljen's fabulous images, at the the Whimsy Stamps shop).

How cute is this release. As always, with the new release comes a new CHALLENGE. Yay. This week's challenge is:
Sparkles, Shine and Glitter!!
For my card I chose to use Little Goth Girl. Isn't she too cute? I paired her with a Raindrop Echo freebie sentiment I got a long time ago. I  have had this black and red glitter paper for a while now and I knew I really wanted to use it for this card. I found this paper by American Crafts sitting on my shelf of new stuff and I had a lightbulb aha moment. The whole thing came together so easily. I went over alot  of stuff with my glitter pens and I added some bling too. I felt it was lacking in embellies so I added the red ribbon. As most of you know I like to keep my cards super simple and I am so glad I did with this one. It really makes the image stand out.

    Can You Dig It?

Hey there and Happy Friday to you all. I have a quick card to share with you today. I have had this image colored for the longest time but this morning I actually decided to do something with it.

Both images I used here are FREEBIES from Meljen's Designs and can be found on the Freebie page of the blog. I have also had these papers for quite a while and I was very happy that I could finally get to use them. I kept the card simple and used last weeks Deconstructed Sketch (I really like it). For aa finishing touch I added the bakers twine and the rubber dog bone charm.

    Challenges:
  • Corrosive Challenge - Earth Tones

  • Craft Us Crazy - Anything Goes

  • Cute Card Thursday - Clean & Simple

  • Stamp Something - Dog Days of Summer

    Vintage Birthday

Hey everyone. I hope you are all having a great week so far. I have a new card I want to share with you. I made it for the current challenge over at the Card Makin Mamas Challenge Blog. The current challenge is HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Our lovely sponsor is Tickled Pink Stamps and they were kind enough to give us images to work with for the challenge. I chose Lil Victorian Steampunk Lolita Lylah to work with. Isn't she awesome. I wanted to go vintage with her so I chose two complimenting papers with the same design in very light colors. I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch because it allowed me to incorporate more vintage elements such as the lace, the pearl brad and the Happy Birthday tickets. I am more than thrilled with the outcome of this. I think I may hold onto it until my Grandma's birthday.

    Challenges:
  • The Deconstructed Sketch - Sketch

  • Tuesday Throwdown - Birthday

As always, with the new release comes a new CHALLENGE. Yay. This week's challenge is:

    BACK TO SCHOOL
For my card  today I chose to use two images and layer them, Checkered Apple Frame and Desktop Mouse. I love how easy it was to put the one  image inside the other. I bought this double sided paer at the CKC in Portland a while back and it really worked perfectly with this image. I added a ribbon threaded through a button for embellishment and I handwrote the ABC on the paper. I think I will give this to Wyatt's teacher at Back to School night.

    Enlighten Me!

Hey everyone. How is your week going so far? I am here today to share this week's FREEBIE image with you from Meljen's Designs. It is the cutest little lamp you ever did see.

When I saw this image this paper immediately sprang to mind. It has been sitting on a shelf just begging to be used. I used the Deconstructed Sketch this week for  the layout. I love this sketch. I needed embellies to complete the sketch but I didnt think that normal embellies would work with this busy paper so I cut out a few circles from the DP and added those as  my embellishments. I am super happy with the way it turned out.
